I always liked drawing as a child but my first serious attempt at a picture was at the age of 16 when I had recently been given a set of graphite pencils and a sketch pad for Christmas. From there several more drawings followed and I began to gain confidence in my abilities.
As time went by, I began to consider composition; the arrangement of objects and the context in which they were placed, as well as the effect of light and texture. I experimented with different techniques to achieve different effects, pushing the limits of my abilities until I mastered them. Each picture became a project in its own right, from the careful research conducted on the subject drawn to logging the time it took to complete a piece of work. Despite never having received any formal art training, I eventually began to think as a professional artist and aimed to achieve their exceptionally high standards in what I attempted.
